Thoughts about Early Childhood Development of Cognitive Acuity

Early childhood is the MOST promising time for developing the cognitive readiness that facilitates a child's productive curiosity as well as promotes intellectual prowess; 90% of a Child’s Brain Develops By Age 5.

The first five years are the most productive for a child.  Readiness to learn any language, readiness to engage in intellectual exploration, readiness to join the great conversation, readiness to actuate all of her/his potential, readiness to--, readiness to--, readiness to--.  The limit of a child's activation and cultivation of her/his potential is restricted by opportunity to exercise curiosity.

Rather than filling a child with rote memory, fill a child with experiences that lead to learning through exploration, learning through paying attention with an open mind, learning through silence, learning through gestalts, learning through pondering connections; learning--not being educated.

Some people spend 72 months paying for a desired high-end car; how about spending 60 months providing seminal experiences for your precious child!

"Education is what people do to you. Learning is what you do to yourself." Joichi Ito, MIT Media Lab director [Joi Ito at #TED2014].
